Arcadio Rodaniche database

Welcome to the Arcadio Rodaniche Database, an open-access collection preserving and sharing the research legacy of Arcadio Rodaniche for anyone interested in cephalopods and their behavior.

This database brings together Rodaniche’s field notes from 1972 onward on the Caribbean reef squid, alongside his early papers on Octopus chierchiae and the larger Pacific striped octopus (a form he originally refers to as Octopus spilotus), and even his unpublished research on the giant cuttlefish.

You’ll also find his previously unpublished 1990 paper, carefully retyped to remove editorial comments while preserving the scientific content.

I created this database as a way to give back to the scientific community who helped me in the creation of this book. Without them contributing their stories and time to this work, ‘Octopus X’ wouldn’t be the book it is today. Thank you to all of you in the research community for your dedication and passion for the important research looking at the world around us.

The goal of this database is to make Rodaniche’s work broadly available so others can build on it, advance our understanding, and carry his contributions forward. It’s also a way to give back to the research community that has been so generous in helping restore his legacy.
